The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a decisive breakthrough in its ongoing Operation No Traffic Gridlock, with a major enforcement drive in Ifo yielding multiple arrests and the clearing of key road corridors.

The operation, executed under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, signals a renewed push to restore order and ensure the free flow of traffic across the state.

Police authorities disclosed that no fewer than 15 individuals were apprehended during the exercise for defying lawful directives and violating environmental and traffic regulations.

The enforcement, led by operatives of the Ifo Division, focused on notorious congestion points, particularly the Abekoko and Old Bank axis along the Abeokuta Lagos Expressway.

These locations had long been plagued by persistent gridlock caused by indiscriminate trading activities and illegal occupation of road spaces.

In a coordinated sweep, officers dismantled makeshift structures, including shanties and planks, while removing wares displayed on the highway in clear violation of extant laws.

Authorities confirmed that more than six truckloads of seized materials were evacuated from the affected areas, restoring sanity to the corridor.

The police maintained that the operation was carried out with professionalism, aimed at safeguarding public safety and improving traffic conditions.

Commending the operatives, Ojajuni reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for acts that undermine public order and road safety across Ogun State.

He warned that individuals or groups found obstructing public roads would face the full weight of the law, urging traders and transport operators to comply with regulations in the collective interest of safety and order.
