Police intervention is strictly to prevent breakdown of law and order, protect lives and property and ensure that vicious land grabbers such as Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye is prevented from using force, firearms and dangerous weapons to dispossess the legal owner and occupants of their properties in compliance with the provision of the Lagos State Properties Protection Law 2016.
According to a signed press statement issued on November 3, 2026, by DSP Afolayan Gbenga, ANIPR, Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, the police clarified its position on the alleged Lekki property demolition. The AIG did not visit the said property nor deployed any police personnel to the said property.
The attention of the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, was drawn to series of publications on the social and print media on a petition purportedly written to the Inspector General of Police and accredited to a notorious land grabber, one Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye, who has no known means of livelihood and his sphere of businesses is unknown calling for “Investigation and Discipline of Assistant Inspector General Of Police, Zone 2 Headquarters, AIG Jimoh Moshood over alleged complicity in the demolition of a property worth over One Billion Naira in Lekki, Lagos”.
To set the record straight and disabuse the mind of the members of the general public who must have read these misinformation, misleading and mischievous publications deliberately aimed at casting aspersion on the constitutional duties and other statutory responsibilities of the Nigeria Police Force in sustaining law and order, prevention of crime and criminality and ensuring that nobody is allowed to take laws into his hands and seek for self-help which can result in violence and attendant damage to property and loss of innocent lives that the Police intervention is necessary to restore law and order at any given time.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2 Headquarters did not at any time conspire with Skyview Properties Limited or any of his agents to engage in any demolition of any property in Lekki or any other location in Lagos state and was not involved in the purported demolition of a property worth over One Billion naira in Lekki Lagos State as mischievously alleged by Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye in the media. The kind of property for which the AIG was alleged of complicity in the demotion is mythical and fictitious. Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye is hereby challenged to produce evidence of the Police deployment or presence at the said property. To the best of the knowledge of the AIG, no Police personnel was deployed by him to the said property as claimed by Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye.
For the avoidance of doubt and to set the record straight, a Case Of Land Grabbing, Petition For Investigation And Prosecution Of One Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye And His cohorts For Criminal Conspiracy, Criminal Trespass, Threat To Life, Criminal Destruction Of Property, Aggravated And Grievous Bodily Harm And Illegal Possession Of Firearms And Other Dangerous Weapons And Related Criminal Offenses Written By C.O. Toyin Pinheiro (San) & Co., A Barrister At Law & Solicitor Of The Supreme Court Of Nigeria And A Distinguished Notaries Public On Behalf Of Skyview Properties Limited dated 22nd October, 2026 was received by the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, and investigation was subsequently directed into the complaints raised in the petition.
The C.O Toyin Pinheiro (SAN) & Co, a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in the petition draw the attention of the Assistant Inspector General of Police to a suit instituted on behalf of Skyview Properties Limited before the High Court of Lagos State in suit no: LD/1006CMW/2015 between Skyview Properties Limited v. Mr Samuel Alao Ajibode & 2 Ors, and attached the judgment delivered by Honorable Justice K.A. Jose (Mrs) on the 30th day of June, 2025 which confirmed the title of ownership to Skyview properties limited of the property registered at page 37 in vol. 2491 of the Land Registry, and situated at Plot 37, Block 77, Lekki Peninsular Scheme 1, Lekki, Lagos for which a Certified True copy of the judgment was attached, these are documents open to the members of the public or any concerned individual(s) for verification.
The petitioner, on behalf of Skyview Properties limited further stated in a written statement that on the 17th day of October, 2026, One Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye together with his thugs illegally entered the said land at Plot 37, block 77, Lekki Peninsular Scheme 1, Lekki , Lagos belonging to Skyview Properties limited wielding dagger, machete, Dane guns, charms etc, and attacked engineers, architects, builders and other work men on site causing grievous bodily harm to them, destroy ongoing construction work on the site in the said location. The workmen were seriously injured and they flee the premises for their dear lives to avoid being killed by one Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye and his assailants.
The petitioner further informed the Assistant Inspector General of Police that one Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye and his thugs forcefully without any court order for stay of execution locked up the property with chains and padlock.
This criminal act was carried out by Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye in brazen violation of a subsisting judgment of the Honorable High Court of Lagos State under Honorable Justice K.A. Jose (Mrs) dated 30th June, 2025 which stated amongst other things in favour of skyview properties limited as follows:
i. A declaration is made that by virtue of the deed of Assignment registered as No. 37 at page 37 in volume 2491, the 1st defendant having sold and transferred his interest in the property situate Plot 37, Block 77, Lekki Peninsular Scheme 1, Lekki, Lagos is no more entitled to be regarded as the holder of the Certificate of Occupancy No. 50 at page 50 in Volume 1900A.
ii. An order of perpetual injunction is made restraining the first Defendant, his agents and privies from further trespassing on the property situate at Plot 37, Block 77, Lekki Peninsular Scheme 1, Lekki, Lagos and from further harassing the claimant, its services, employees, agents and privies in respect of any matter relating to the property.
iii. General damages in the sum of N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) is awarded against the 1st defendant for the harassment, inconvenience, embarrassment and falsehood perpetrated against the claimant by the 1st Defendant.
Consequently, the petitioner requested that the Assistant Inspector General of Police to go into this matter in order to avoid breakdown of law and order by investigating this matter with the possibility of prosecuting those responsible.
It is pertinent to state that, Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye who wrote the purported petition against the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Jimoh Moshood to the Inspector General of Police is discovered to be grossly incompetent and has no any interest whatsoever in the said property known to law, as he is not a party to the case that was taken to court by Skyview Properties Limited against Samuel Alao Ajibode, the Attorney General of Lagos State, the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Land Bureau for which a judgment was delivered in favour of Skyview Properties Limited in suit no LD/1006CMW/2015 between Skyview Properties Limited v. Mr Samuel Alao Ajibode & 2 Ors, by Hon. Justice K.A. Jose of the High Court of Lagos State on the 30th day of June, 2025, his relationship to Samuel Alao Ajibode as family member is clearly unfounded without proof to establish such. He can best be described as a hired land mercenary and violent merchant that will not contemplate unleashing mayhem in any community to achieve his land grabbing expeditions.
It is unknown to the Law of the land for any individual(s) to take laws into their hands, not being an interested party in the suit, to illegally enter any property with thugs wielding dagger, machete, Dane guns, charms etc, and attacked workers which include Engineers, expatriates and other menial workers causing them grievous bodily harm and also damaged and destroyed the construction work on the land. Wherever this happens, the Police is certainly under constitutional obligations to intervene to prevent death and injury to the life of innocent people. But in this case, no Police personnel neither tactical team nor otherwise were deployed by the AIG to the said property. Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye is challenged to come up with any proof of where the Police personnel were seen in the said property till date.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police also did not at any time leave his office to where the property is located with policemen to supervise any demolition of any property. This is also misleading and mischievous accusation against the AIG that is not substantiated with any fact or evidence. According to the Skyview Properties Limited, they have been in possession of the property since 1993 without being displaced and all the structures therein belonged to Skyview Properties Limited, that is, the fence, the security house and a building foundation, were built by Skyview Properties Limited.
Therefore, the mischievous claim by one Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye that a property worth one billion naira was demolished under the supervision of the Assistant Inspector General of Police is not only ridiculous without any fact but a figment of a shallow imagination of Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye, deliberately to misinform the public, create evil sentiment, annoyance and hatred in the mind of the public towards the Police.
It is pertinent to state here that Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye has been found out not to have any document, title, deed of assignment or court order in his favour to attribute ownership of the said property to himself nor has any proof of payment, amount paid for the purchase of the property and from whom he bought the property. He is hereby challenged to tender any of those documents conferring the ownership of the said property to him, and come up with pictorial evidence of the presence of the AIG and other Police officers on the said land or should be ready to show cause why he should not be arrested, investigated and prosecuted for land grabbing, spreading falsehood, criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, threat to life, criminal destruction of property, aggravated and grievous bodily harm and criminal defamation of the hard−earned name and integrity of the person and office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Jimoh Moshood.
It is also on record that the Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye deliberately attempted to mislead the police into believing that he owns the property along with one Samuel Alao Ajibode, who he claimed to be his brother and the actual owner of the land, these were asserted in his petition to the Assistant Inspector General of Police dated 19th October, 2026 against Aare Ariwajoye, Arinze Obodo, Akinjoba Batila & Ors. It is surprising to later discover that the Samuel Alao Ajibode, whom Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye claimed conferred beneficial ownership of the land on him is the same Samuel Alao Ajibode taken to court by Skyview Properties Limited and a judgment was delivered against him, and suffered defeat in the law suit no: LD/1006CMW/2015 between Skyview Properties Limited v. Mr Samuel Alao Ajibode & 2 Ors, with ten Million Naira general damages awarded against him and Two Million Naira as cost of the action. Therefore Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye claim of beneficial owner is criminal and amount to putting something on nothing.
Consequently, Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye is without any doubt, a meddlesome interloper and a desperate land grabber who would stop at nothing despite a subsisting court judgment to perpetrate forceful takeover at will and with the use of violence, of the property at Plot 37, Block 77, Lekki Peninsular Scheme 1, Lekki, Lagos, whose lawful owner has been in lawful possession since 1993.
Furthermore, It is because of lack of merit that the petition written by Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye to the AIG to displace Skyview Properties Limited from the lawful possession of their property bestowed on them in a judgment with suit no LD/1006CMW/2015 between Skyview Properties Limited v. Mr Samuel Alao Ajibode & 2 Ors, that further action into the complaint in the petition was discontinued to avoid miscarriage of justice, attendant civil litigation against the Police by Skyview Properties Limited for violating valid court judgment and not to allow the Police suffer from contempt of court. His petition was not torn as alleged in the media publication and it is available in our records for inspection. Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye is at liberty and may wish to report back to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zonal Criminal Investigation Department where his matter is being handled. It is obvious that the turning down of the petition to sway the course of justice by Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye is clearly the reason why he is using the media to malign the integrity of the AIG.
The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, under the leadership of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh will continue to be guided by high regard for the rule of law, respect for the judiciary and strict adherence to the international best practices and professional code of conduct for police officers. It however, vehemently rejects in its entirety this clandestine and diversionary ploy by one Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye to frustrate ongoing investigation into the criminal allegations against him through the resort to blackmail, deliberate misinformation of the public, manipulation of facts of the case, and an orchestrated campaign of calumny against the person and office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police.
The Police will remain steadfast in ensuring justice at all times, and hereby urge the members of the public to discountenance the publication in its entirety as unfounded, fictitious, malicious and orchestrated to discredit the Police in carrying out its lawful duties. The media are implored to always investigate and verify reports brought to them before publishing and not to allow the pages of their esteemed publications to be used for spreading disinformation, defamation and other cyber offences that have legal consequences.
The above is in compliance with the directive of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.
