The Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF) has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State to provide effective and practical support for the governorship candidates of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in South East zone in the March 11, 2023 election.
The forum in a statement issued in Enugu yesterday by its Campaign and publicity secretary Chief Uzoma Anunihu made available to newsmen.
NUF decried a lack of visible support for the Governorship candidates even when the election is fast approaching.
They said Prof. Soludo as the only APGA Governor in the zone should provide financial, moral and physical support to these candidates as a way of scaling their support base and chances of emerging victorious in their respective States.
Apart from supporting the candidates financially, NUF said that Gov. Soludo should visit and campaign vigorously for each of the candidates in their respective states.
He said that would shore up the support base, popularity and chances of the APGA flag-bearers as well as show that they are not orphans but have solid people behind them.
“Prof. Soludo as the leader of the party in Nigeria should go with the national chairman of the party and other national officers to campaign for the candidates in their respective States.
The advantages of such are obvious. It will create more awareness for the candidates” and if elected will forestall unity among the South East governors said NUF.
They recalled it was Peter Obi who virtually installed Rochas Okorocha as the Governor of Imo State, although Okoroacha like a depraved damsel eloped with APGA governorship to All Progressives Congress (APC).
The record, the group said, is there that Obi with the active collaboration of the then national chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, who was the then State returning officer in the election helped to install Okoroacha.
They urged Soludo to hasten up and join these candidates’ campaign train as his presence will serve as a morale booster for the candidates and equally attract more voters for them.
The candidates are Profs Bernard Ifeanyichukwu Odoh, Ebonyi State, Gregory Ibe, Abia State and Chief Frank NwekeJnr, Enugu State, Chief Anunihu advised
