The Commissioner of Police, railway command, CP Yetunde Longe has said that the driver of the Bus that crashed with a train is presently under going psychiatric, physiological and drug test.
The driver who was brought to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH was later led into the TB diagnosis centre to carry out the test on him.
The CP who spoke with journalists said they are investigating the numbers of people that died in the crash. As autopsy would be conducted on the remain of the victims on Friday.
She said: “Presently we are with the driver, we are handing him over to doctors for medical examination, because there was flag officer at the railway crossing flagging him down, but he refused to stop that’s why we must subject him to through medical examination. I can only confirm two dead now.
“As a driver this is one of the test you have to take note off, because when you get to a level crossing, the train will be hunking for people to know he is coming. Drivers should ensure they are patient for the train pass.”
When asked why there was no barrier at the level crossing, she said unfortunately for now we don’t have such thing there anymore, but there was a signal man who was at the crossing in the morning when the crashed occurred but the driver of the bus never obey the signal man that was caused the crash.
“The driver if found culpable would be prosecuted and we are working with the state department of public prosecution, they are gathering more evidences to prosecute him. The driver as been arrested and he is in our custody presently.”
