The 14 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) successfully uncovered a clandestine baby-making facility located in Umunkpeyi Nvosi, Isiala-Ngwa LGA, Abia State on Sunday.

Acting on reliable intelligence, the troops swiftly conducted a raid on the premises, resulting in the rescue of 21 pregnant young women between the ages of 18 and 23.

Also, two infants, a boy and a girl approximately one year old, were saved from the facility.

The establishment, masquerading as the “Mma Charity Social Development and Rehabilitation Center” through a deceptive signpost, was under the management of a woman named Mrs. Charity, who is currently evading authorities.

An anonymous source disclosed that the pregnant women had been held against their will within the facility, prohibited from leaving.

Allegations surfaced that the manager had been involved in the illicit sale of babies to criminal syndicates for ritual purposes and child trafficking.

The rescued pregnant women, along with the children and various recovered items, were handed over to the state government for further necessary measures.

The Abia State government expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the Nigerian Army and vowed to ensure that the perpetrators face the full force of the law while reiterating its commitment to eradicating criminal activities and illegal operations from the state.
