In Kaduna State, Nigeria, the police have successfully retrieved two AK47 rifles and ammunition from criminals during a routine patrol in various parts of the state.
The incident occurred on July 18 at approximately 10:05 pm along Hukunyi – Danja road, a border area between Kaduna and Katsina states.
According to a statement by Police spokesman, DSP Muhammed Jalige, the operatives observed two individuals riding a motorcycle in a highly suspicious manner during their patrol.
Upon realizing the presence of the armed police team, the suspected bandits fled the scene, abandoning their weapons in the process.
The prompt and efficient action of the patrol team led to the recovery of the firearms, preventing their potential use in further criminal activities.
“On sensing danger, they immediately ran into the nearby forest to avoid being apprehended as a result their luggage fell off the bike. When the said luggage was searched two AK47 rifles loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition each were recovered.
“In a bid to ensure that the hoodlums are not given any room to operate, the patrol team combed the entire area throughout the night in order to guarantee the safety of the road users and the adjoining communities,” said Jalige.
