The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has taken a significant step towards enhancing public engagement and operational efficiency by introducing a dedicated toll-free number, 08000LAWMA.
Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, emphasized the importance of effective communication in waste management. The new toll-free number aims to break down communication barriers, enabling residents to easily report issues, request services, and stay informed about LAWMA’s activities.
Gbadegesin highlighted that the 08000LAWMA line connects callers directly with trained representatives, equipped to address various waste-related concerns. Residents can utilize this line to report illegal dumping, request waste collection, inquire about PSP operations, and obtain information on LAWMA’s array of services.
Beyond communication improvements, LAWMA is intensifying efforts in core operational services. This includes strengthening partnerships with PSPs, enhancing marine waste services, prioritizing healthcare waste management, and addressing market waste. The overarching goal is to optimize waste management practices across the state.
In a call to action, the LAWMA boss urged residents to adopt responsible waste containerization and disposal practices. This, he emphasized, is crucial in protecting people from contagious diseases.
For residents seeking assistance with waste management issues, LAWMA has provided toll-free numbers: 08000LAWMA (08000-52962), 07080601020, and 617. Additionally, inquiries can be made via email at info@lawma.gov.ng.
Kadiri Folashade (Mrs.), Director of Public Affairs, announced these developments, marking a proactive move by LAWMA to streamline communication and reinforce its commitment to efficient waste disposal solutions for Lagosians.
