The Commissioner of Police (CP) Nnaghe Obono Itam, the 34th Commissioner of Police for the Anambra State Command, has announced significant modifications to the command’s policing plan. In a lecture and briefing session held on May 28, 2024, CP Itam addressed the Eight Area Commanders, Fifty-three Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and Sectional Heads, emphasizing an intelligence-driven, technologically supportive, and tactically-led approach to policing.
Since assuming office, CP Itam has been an advocate for a modernized and responsive policing plan. The recent session aimed to review and provide guidance on personnel positioning to ensure timely responses to security needs in Anambra State.
CP Itam directed officers to adopt community policing strategies based on mutual trust, understanding, and partnership with the public. This approach is intended to enhance safety and maintain public order across the state. He also stressed the importance of competence, character, and courage among police personnel, warning that unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated under his watch.
“Our administration is committed to an all-inclusive policing system,” said CP Itam. “We are open to hearing from everyone and anyone who wants to assist us, particularly by providing valuable information that will guide our decisions.”
The session underscored the command’s dedication to operating a policing system that integrates community input and leverages technology and intelligence to improve security and public safety in Anambra State.
