The Anambra State Police Command has issued a stern warning about the activities of criminal elements spreading threatening voice messages and violent videos to enforce illegal sit-at-home directives. These actions are aimed at instilling fear among the residents of Anambra State.
According to the police, these individuals fabricate threatening voice-over recordings and circulate outdated videos of violent incidents, some of which did not occur within the state or even the country. The Command urges law-abiding citizens to disregard such propaganda and assured that law enforcement agencies are fully mobilized to ensure their safety and security.
In a recent successful operation on May 29, 2024, at around 2:00 PM, police operatives intercepted a gang of four armed men along the Oba flyover in Idemili South. The ambush led to the apprehension of one miscreant, while the other three escaped with bullet injuries. Recovered from the scene were a locally made Barreta pistol, four expended cartridges, two phones, and incriminating evidence indicating unpatriotic and disloyal activities towards the Nigerian government.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, reassured the people of Anambra State that their safety remains the utmost priority for the Police Command. He encouraged citizens to report any security concerns to the command’s control room at 07039194332 or contact the respective Area Commands:
