In a bid to enhance operational efficiency and foster better relationships with the public, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has directed the commencement of a comprehensive training and retraining program for all personnel of the Anambra State Police Command. This initiative aligns with the vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD NPM, to ensure effective service delivery to the Nigerian populace.
The capacity development exercise will be conducted in batches and will cover a wide range of topics including Police Duties, the Police Act and regulations, Musketry, Riot Drills, Foot Drills, Use of Firearms, and Human Rights. The training aims to expose officers to modern-day policing strategies and equip them with the skills necessary for crime prevention and the protection of lives and properties, including schools, higher institutions, markets, churches, and both private and government infrastructures in the state.
CP Itam emphasized the importance of professionalism and a better policing system during the reorientation period. He encouraged the trainees to utilize this opportunity to arm themselves with the fundamentals of policing and become better officers.
“This training is not only a mandate but an opportunity for our officers to relearn and refresh their knowledge, thereby ensuring they are equipped with the latest skills and strategies in modern policing,” stated CP Itam.
The training underscores the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to improving its service delivery and maintaining public trust and safety.
