Fidelity Bank Plc has demonstrated its commitment to supporting local communities by donating maternity kits to pregnant women in Aiyetoro, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos. The initiative, part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) under the Fidelity Helping Hands Program (FHHP), aims to provide essential health support to economically disadvantaged expectant mothers.
The donation, led by the Crestcore Inductees Class, highlights Fidelity Bank’s dedication to health and social welfare. The FHHP empowers Fidelity Bank’s staff to identify and support impactful community projects, with the bank matching funds to maximize the initiatives’ reach.
At a handover ceremony held at Aiyetoro Primary Health Centre, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand & Communications at Fidelity Bank, presented the maternity kits. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nwagboh emphasized the importance of good health, particularly for expectant mothers. He stated, “At Fidelity Bank, we recognize that ‘health is wealth,’ and financial barriers often prevent women from accessing vital ante-natal care. This has been linked to high maternal mortality rates. We hope this donation encourages more women to attend ante-natal appointments, ensuring healthier pregnancies and safe deliveries.”
Receiving the kits on behalf of the community, Dr. S.O. Oredein, Medical Officer of Health for Yaba LCDA, expressed gratitude. “Fidelity Bank has once again proven to be a bank that deeply cares about the people. By providing these maternity kits, the bank is promoting better healthcare and helping reduce maternal mortality,” Dr. Oredein noted.
The initiative falls under Fidelity Bank’s Health/Social Welfare CSR pillar, which also includes Education, Youth Empowerment, and Environmental Sustainability. Beneficiaries, like Sekinat Aderoju, expressed their appreciation: “We are truly grateful for Fidelity Bank’s support. These maternity kits will ease our financial burden and help us prepare for safe deliveries.”
