The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc, minps, PhD, has concluded his Election Security Advocacy Tour with officers and men of the Awka Area Command, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to ensuring safety and professionalism during the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election.
According to a press statement signed by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the meeting held at the Awka Area Command Headquarters on 1st November 2025 marked the final phase of the Command’s statewide sensitization and capacity-strengthening engagements aimed at preparing officers for efficient and impartial election security operations.
In his address, CP Orutugu commended the officers for their discipline and dedication throughout the advocacy exercise, which has successfully covered all Area Commands and Divisions in the state. He stressed the need for neutrality, professionalism, and respect for human rights while performing election duties.
Reiterating the Command’s preparedness, the CP assured residents that the Anambra Police Command has fully deployed tactical units, intelligence teams, and patrol formations across the state, with strong coordination among sister security agencies to guarantee the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the polls.
He further charged officers to remain vigilant, courageous, and committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace and public confidence throughout the electoral process.
CP Orutugu also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and security-conscious, adding that the Police will continue to collaborate with communities and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free election in Anambra State.
