In a renewed effort to curb criminal activities and protect critical national infrastructure within its Area of Responsibility, personnel of Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO deployed to OBAMA Houseboat on 23 May 26 successfully apprehended 2 suspected armoured cable vandals at Akakumama Community in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The suspects, identified as Mr Williams Sunday and Mr Ayebadye Ikartie, were arrested while allegedly vandalising armoured cables used in supplying electricity from the OANDO Flow Station to Akakumama Community, the criminal act if left unchecked, could have disrupted power supply and affected operations within the area.
The successful operation followed a credible intelligence report on the activities of 3 suspected vandals operating around the community. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, FOB FORMOSO personnel deployed a patrol team to the location where the suspects were intercepted in the process of vandalising the cables. On sighting the patrol team, one of the suspects escaped, while the other 2 were apprehended.

The operation further underscores the commitment of FOB FORMOSO to safeguarding critical infrastructure, maintaining security within the maritime environment and combating all forms of economic sabotage in the Niger Delta region.
Subsequently, the arrested suspects were handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Oil and Gas Unit, Bayelsa State Command on 24 May 26 for further investigation and necessary legal action.
