The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a Special Intervention Quick Impact Project comprising an industrial solar-powered borehole, a 35,000-litre overhead tank and a water reticulation system at Muye community, Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.
The intervention was executed in honour of the Commandant, Naval War College Nigeria, Rear Admiral Mohammed Adamu Muye, as a way of giving back to his hometown and the people of Muye in Lapai Local Government Area.
In his address, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), who was represented by the Director of Veteran Affairs, Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeeq, explained that the project aligns with the Nigerian Navy’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project and supports the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He described the initiative as an avenue through which the Nigerian Navy honours its accomplished senior officers.
Speaking at the event, the Special Guest of Honour, Abdulmalik Abubakar, Chief of Staff to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, commended the Chief of the Naval Staff for the milestone project. He described the project as a major step towards alleviating the challenges faced by Muye community, who travel long distances in search of water. Alhaji Abdulmalik added that the project will significantly improve hygiene and sanitation among families and schoolchildren in the community.
The project facilitator, Rear Admiral Muhammed Adamu Muye, expressed profound gratitude to the Chief of the Naval Staff for providing the platform for the intervention and giving him the opportunity to contribute to the development of his hometown.
The historic commissioning ceremony brought together distinguished personalities, including royal fathers, senior military officers and Lapai Local Government officials.
