The Lagos State Police Command has paraded 14 suspects arrested for various crimes like kidnap, armed robbery, stealing and criminal conspiracy.
The suspects were said to have been arrested within the period of 5 weeks and paraded at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti Yaba.
CP Idowu Owohunwa said from all of the cases which were successfully cracked, the police recovered a total of three firearms, three live ammunition, four vehicles, one handcuff, one taser, one pepper spray and one cutlass.
CONSPIRACY & KIDNAPPING: This deals with a case of kidnapping reported sometime in December. The victim quickly reached out to the police and investigation led to the arrest of one Moruf Yusuf ‘m’ aged 60 who was arrested in Oyo state. Further investigation led to the arrest of the trio of Rasak Oyinlola ‘m’ aged 55, Dr Adepetu Olushola ‘m’ aged 65, owner of Mighty Hands Herbal Irawo and Isreal Emenoge ‘m’ aged 42 at their warehouse – a three-bedroom flat at Lucky Fiber around Ita-maga.
The suspects formed their gang in October 2022 and have cumulatively actualized the sum of Twenty million, seven hundred thousand naira (20,700,000.00). Items recovered at the scene of crime include one Nissan Pathfinder with registration number EPE 575 CP, one Toyota Sienna with registration number KRD 582 ES, one Handcuff, one Taser and one pepper spray. Suspects will be charged to court at the completion of investigation.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM: On March 16, 2023 at about 0200hrs, policemen on routine patrol noticed the suspicious movement of one Obiora Ogechukwu ‘m’ aged 24 around Ilupeju. When stopped and searched, a locally made semi-automatic pistol was found in his possession. Suspect will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
CONSPIRACY, ARMED ROBBERY AND UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM: On February 24, 2023, a gang of robbers operating on a motorcycle was intercepted around Ijaye. While two of them escaped, one Michael Adewale m’ aged 28 was arrested in possession of a single-barrel shotgun and one live cartridge.
Investigation revealed that the trio are a gang terrorising Ijaye environs. Effort is ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects, after which the case will be charged to court.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARMS: On March 13, 2023, based on credible intelligence that a group of Eiye cultists are planning an attack at Igbo-Elerin and its environs, a team of detectives swung into action and arrested one Johnson Solomon ‘m’ aged 20 at his hideout in Ajegunle. One locally made double barrel shot gun with two live cartridges were recovered. Investigation is ongoing to arrest his accomplice. Case will soon be charged to court.
INTRA-COMMUNITY VIOLENCE: On March 19, 2023 at about 0950 hrs, one Kpoko Godwin Effion ‘m’ aged 28 and David Godwin ‘m’ aged 29 were arrested for engaging in intra-community violence around Abule–Ado. One cutlass was recovered from the suspects. Case will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
CONSPIRACY, STEALING AND RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY: On February 24, 2023, based on credible intelligence, a team of detectives arrested the duo of Abiodun Akinlolu ‘m’ aged 27 and Abdulahi Jimoh ‘m’ aged 30 who specialized in disguising as driver and conductor plying Constain to Mushin route and stealing phones of their passengers.
Their receiver One Eyiomo Olalekan ‘m’ aged 21 who specialized in using the sim cards of the stolen phones to hack their bank account. One unregistered white Suzuki bus was recovered from the suspects. Case will soon be charged to court.
CONSPIRACY AND ARMED ROBBERY: On March 21, 2023 at about 0430 hrs, policemen on stop and search stopped a 20ft container truck loaded with one unregistered black jeep. Upon questioning, the duo of Shola Habeeb ‘m’ aged 34 and Jimoh Toheeb ‘m’ aged 26 couldn’t give a satisfactory account of their movement. Investigation revealed that they had earlier snatched the vehicle. Case will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
