In separate incidents in the Agbor and Mosogar areas of Delta State, the Police operatives from the Delta State Command have successfully apprehended two individuals believed to be armed robbers. Additionally, they have also seized two locally crafted cut-to-size guns.

The arrests were made by vigilant police officers who were on routine patrols, demonstrating the commitment of the law enforcement authorities to ensuring the safety and security of the community.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, on the 5th of June, 2023, at approximately 5:40 PM, officers from the Agbor Division were conducting an anti-crime patrol along Baleke Street Iregua Agbor when they spotted a motorcycle carrying three passengers.

Sensing the presence of law enforcement, two of the passengers, identified as Collins Anthony (34) and Stephen Goddey (30), both residents of Agbor Community, hastily disembarked from the motorcycle and attempted to flee. However, the police swiftly pursued and apprehended them.

A subsequent search of the suspects led to the discovery of one locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and a live cartridge in their possession.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals are part of a criminal syndicate that has been causing havoc in Agbor Community and its environs.

The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate.

In a separate incident on the same day, at around 12:30 PM, officers attached to the Mosogar Division intercepted three individuals identified as Moses Musa (27), Kelin, and Isah along the Mosogar/Oghara expressway during a routine patrol.

Upon noticing their presence, the suspects fled into a nearby bush. While two of the suspects managed to escape, Moses Musa was captured by the police.

In the course of searching of him, a locally made pistol and a live cartridge was discovered. During questioning, Moses Musa confessed to hailing from Kogi State and revealed that the trio specialized in point-of-sale (POS) robberies. He was identified by a victim whose motorcycle was recently snatched at gunpoint along the Oghara/Mosogar Bridge. Moses Musa is currently in custody, and a thorough investigation is underway to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, commended the officers and personnel of the command for their unwavering dedication to combating crime and other criminal activities within the state.

He then assured the residents that the police force will maintain its high tempo of operations to ensure the safety and security of the community.
