The Lagos Police Command has apprehended Precious Osabhuomien, a hotel receptionist, for her alleged involvement in aiding a suspected murderer’s escape.

The incident occurred at Eagle Rock Garden and Suites, Ago Palace Way, Okota. An unnamed woman, who had checked in with a man named Kelvin, was found dead on the premises the next morning, with Kelvin currently on the run.

According to reports, Kelvin convinced Precious, who was on duty that night, to allow him to step out briefly while they were staying at the hotel. He took the room key with him, promising to return shortly, but never came back.

The following morning, Precious noticed the woman’s lifeless and naked body through the window after receiving no response to repeated knocks on the door. Concerned, she alerted the hotel management, and the police were called in.

Upon opening the door, the police discovered the deceased woman with foam coming from her mouth and an inhaler nearby. However, there were no visible signs of violence on her body. Precious was taken into custody for negligence as she was the one who received the payment of N9,000 for the room through a bank transfer.

Lagos State Police Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and mentioned that Precious had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.

In a related incident at a hotel in Awka, Anambra State, a woman named Chinyere Awuda was found dead and dumped inside the swimming pool. As a result, the Anambra State government has sealed the hotel, and Commissioner for Culture, Tourism, and Entertainment, Don Onyenji, verified this action.

“Yes, we have visited the hotel, and also sealed it off. We are in touch with the police, who are already investigating the matter, and the facility will remain sealed, pending the outcome of the police investigation,” he said.

According to reports, Awuda, a clubgoer, was tragically beaten to death by fellow guests and later found discarded in the pool. This incident has escalated tensions in the state, particularly due to the unclear motive behind the mob attack on her.

There are conflicting accounts surrounding the incident. One version suggests that she took some of the money being sprayed on a birthday celebrant by friends, while another alleges that she stole money intended for the celebrant’s festivities.

The Anambra State Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, was unreachable by phone, but a senior officer in the state confirmed the occurrence to The Nation. The authorities have taken the suspects into custody, and an ongoing investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
