The Lagos Police Command’s operatives have successfully apprehended a significant amount of a substance believed to be cannabis sativa.
The interception took place along Mushin Road, Isolo, around 11:56 pm on July 12.
According to a statement made yesterday by the police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the discovery resulted from the diligent efforts of operatives conducting a routine stop-and-search operation.
The operation led to the arrest of two suspects who were found in possession of the illicit substance. The individuals taken into custody were identified as Fidelis Otiga, aged 49, and Chukwuma Kennedy, aged 50. They were apprehended while traveling in a Toyota Sienna vehicle with registration number KJA118HV.
The estimated street value of the confiscated illegal substance amounts to N13 million.
“The suspects and exhibit have since been transferred to the command headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, once again assures the public of adequate security of lives and property and a sustained fight against the menace of drug misuse and abuse in the state,” Hundeyin said.
