Truck Driver Unconscious, Motor Boy Dead In Lagos Auto Crash

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed the death of young man who’s identify is still unknown in a lone accident that occurred on Saturday morning at the Anthony end of the Oshodi-Gbagada expressway.

It said the driver of the truck was found unconscious by operatives of the Authority and that he was rushed to the Gbagada General hospital where he is being treated at the intensive care unit.

LASTMA’s Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Mr Adebayo Taofiq who confirmed the incident said while the truck driver was rescued unconscious, his motor-boy was not do lucky as he was found dead at the scene of accident.

Taofiq said the lone accident happened at Barracks Bus Stop Opposite Total Filling Station while the truck was ascending Anthony ‘Oke’ Bridge inward Gbagada.

“Immediate investigation revealed that the driver of the containerised truck with registration number T 20345 LA lost control due to a brake failure and immediately the truck fell down at a few metres while ascending Anthony ‘Oke’ Bridge inward Gbagada area of Lagos.

“Immediately the accident happened, LASTMA personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the driver who was unconscious. However his motor boy was found dead”

He said policemen from Ilupeju Police Station provided security backup while the rescued driver was immediately rushed to Gbagada General Hospital by officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) on ground.

The Acting General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare Oki who visited the accident scene sympathized and sent his condolences to the families of the motor boy.

Mr. Bakare Oki however warned motoring public particularly truck drivers to always ensure their vehicles are in perfect conditions including the braking system before embarking on any journey within the State and the Country at large
