NASENI Prioritizes Human Capital Development To Propel Innovation — Halilu

Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), emphasized the pivotal role of investing in human capital development and staff motivation in transforming the Agency into a global powerhouse of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI).

Addressing participants at a 5-Day training for Information, New Media, and Protocol staff drawn from NASENI Headquarters and Institutes, Mr. Halilu stressed the significance of staff training and development in ensuring organizational success. The training, held at the Exclusive Serene Hotel in Wuye, Abuja, focused on modern government agency strategies in the 21st century.

“We are forging a new NASENI where well-trained employees equipped with technical, vocational, and management skills are pivotal to our growth and technological advancement,” Mr. Halilu stated, aligning this reorientation with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the administration’s Eight Priority Areas.

Highlighting the Agency’s mandate to drive Nigeria’s industrialization through Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialization, Mr. Halilu detailed NASENI’s recent strides in partnering with international technical entities. These partnerships aim to convert over 150 scientific and technological prototypes into finished products, including coal-based fertilizer plants, Lithium processing, Electric Vehicle manufacturing plants, and advancements in Agric afforestation and solar irrigation.

The 5-Day intensive training aimed to elevate Information, Protocol, and New Media staff to international standards, enhancing their capabilities to communicate the Agency’s strategy and partnerships effectively. Mr. Halilu expressed confidence in the training’s ability to align NASENI’s staff with counterparts in both the public and private sectors.

Prof. Bagudu Dansheu Gwadangaji and Prof. Umar Ibrahim Gaya, Coordinating Directors of Engineering Infrastructure and Science Infrastructure respectively, emphasized the necessity of adapting to new media strategies and combating misinformation in their remarks at the event.

Mr. Segun Ayeoyenikan, Director of Information, Protocol, and New Media Unit, lauded Mr. Halilu’s commitment to staff development and productivity. Ayeoyenikan emphasized the pivotal role of their department in projecting NASENI’s image, products, mission, and vision.

This training marks a crucial step toward enhancing digital communication skills within NASENI, aligning with the Agency’s ambition to become a 21st-century institution. Participants were urged to leverage this opportunity for excellence, with expectations that the acquired knowledge will reposition NASENI as a leading Federal Government agency in the domain of Science and Engineering.
