The Zone 2 Police Command, under the leadership of Assistant Inspector General of Police Olatoye A. Durosinmi, has apprehended Tayo Shakirudeen, a suspected fake medical practitioner, for allegedly possessing forged certificates from Obafemi Awolowo University and the Nigeria Medical and Dental Council.

Following intelligence gathered from the Elepe community concerning Shakirudeen’s activities at the Skylink Medical Centre in Elepe-Ikorodu, Lagos, a team of detectives, led by SP Mariam Ogunmolasuyi, conducted a raid, leading to Shakirudeen’s arrest. During the operation, suspected forged certificates were seized, along with immovable hospital equipment. The medical center has been sealed pending further investigation.

Shakirudeen confessed to electronically producing the certificates, admitting that he did not obtain any degree from the university or certification from the medical council. His actual qualification is stated as SSCE. He claimed to have six staff, including two trained nurses and four amateurs. Despite lacking proper credentials, he allegedly performed three surgeries, including two Cesarean sections and one appendectomy, during his three years of unlawful practice.

The AIG emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reporting unlawful practices. The Zone 2 Command is collaborating with the health ministries of Lagos and Ogun States to eradicate such practices from the area.

The police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies promptly.
