In honor of Children’s Day on May 27, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has called on parents and guardians to serve as better role models for their children and wards. Emphasizing the importance of cultivating deliberate relationships, CP Itam highlighted that such bonds are crucial for properly assessing and guiding young ones.
The Commissioner joined His Excellency, Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, and the people of Anambra State in celebrating the day at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka. The theme of this year’s celebration, “Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of the Nigerian Child through Quality Education and Skills Development,” underscores the significance of educational and skill advancement for the youth.
During his address, CP Itam urged the residents of Anambra State to maintain the message of peace and actively oppose any actions that threaten national unity and public tranquility.
The event featured several highlights, including a match pass by schoolchildren, including those from police schools, and the presentation of gifts to the match pass winners. Governor Soludo and his wife also participated in cutting a celebratory cake. Additionally, the children showcased cultural displays, adding a vibrant touch to the festivities.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Command, also attended the event, which marked a significant celebration of the potential and importance of the younger generation in the state and the nation at large.
