In the early hours of May 29, 2024, the Anambra State Police Command, acting on credible information, apprehended a notorious cultist and armed robber in Nkwelle, Oyi Local Government Area. The suspect, Amalu Onyedika, a 32-year-old from Eziagu in Enugu State, was found in possession of a locally made pistol and four live rounds of ammunition.
Onyedika, who works as a technician specializing in aluminum and glass windows in Onitsha, confessed to being a member of the Junior Vikings secret cult. He admitted joining the gang at the age of 22 and has been implicated in numerous criminal activities terrorizing Nkwelle and surrounding areas.
Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered an extensive investigation to identify and apprehend other members of the gang. The case will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
