Fidelity Bank Plc has promoted 433 employees under its 2026 Promotion and Notch Award Exercise, reinforcing the financial institution’s commitment to recognising exceptional performance, rewarding employee contributions and strengthening its performance-driven workplace culture.

The latest promotion exercise represents approximately 13 per cent of the Bank’s workforce, marking a steady increase in the proportion of employees benefiting from its annual career advancement programme. The figure compares with 12 per cent in 2025, when 376 employees were promoted, and 11 per cent in 2024, when 337 employees received promotions.

The upward trend highlights Fidelity Bank’s continued emphasis on career progression and talent development as key components of its broader people-management strategy. Through the annual promotion and notch exercise, the Bank seeks to acknowledge employees who have demonstrated professionalism, discipline, innovation, customer focus and sustained performance in their respective roles.

Since Nneka Onyeali Ikpe assumed office as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Fidelity Bank has maintained a structured approach to employee advancement, using its annual promotion exercises to recognise staff contributions, strengthen institutional capacity and develop a pipeline of future leaders across different levels of the organisation.

The Bank’s focus on its workforce extends beyond promotions and career progression. Over the years, Fidelity Bank has introduced a range of employee-focused initiatives designed to improve productivity, enhance workplace satisfaction and support the overall wellbeing of its employees.

As part of these efforts, the Bank has implemented salary increases across various categories and grade levels in 2022, 2024 and 2025. It has also introduced staff buses to help ease commuting challenges, strengthened medical support and expanded opportunities for learning, professional development and continuous skills acquisition.

Fidelity Bank has equally broadened access to its employee mortgage and home-ownership scheme. The initiative was extended to employees from the Assistant Banking Executive to Deputy Manager cadres, while applicable mortgage limits were increased for qualified employees to reflect prevailing market realities. The policy places the Bank among financial institutions providing mortgage support to employees below the Manager cadre.

In addition, Fidelity Bank has continued to promote employee engagement, collaboration and work-life balance through programmes focused on professional certification, continuous upskilling and workplace development. These initiatives form part of the Bank’s efforts to create a motivated, adaptable and future-ready workforce capable of responding to the changing demands of the financial services industry.

The Bank’s people strategy is anchored on attracting, developing, recognising and retaining talent. By linking career progression with performance and professional development, Fidelity Bank aims to equip employees for greater responsibilities while strengthening the organisational capabilities required to support its long-term business objectives.

These employee-focused initiatives have also contributed to Fidelity Bank’s reputation as a workplace of choice within Nigeria’s financial services sector, according to industry observers. The Bank’s approach combines employee recognition with investments in remuneration, welfare, career development and skills enhancement.

Fidelity Bank Plc is a full-fledged Commercial Deposit Money Bank serving more than 10 million customers through digital banking channels and 255 business offices across Nigeria, as well as its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited. The Bank has continued to expand its presence and capabilities while positioning its workforce as an important driver of its growth strategy.

The Bank has received several local and international recognitions for its performance and initiatives. These include the 2025 Development Bank of Nigeria Innovation Award for MSME support; Best Retail and SME Bank Award from Independent Newspapers; Best Bank for Export & Trade Finance and Most Innovative Bank of the Year at the 2025 BusinessDay Banks and Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards; and Nigeria’s Best Private Bank at the 2025 Euromoney Awards. Fidelity Bank also received the inaugural Most Improved Commercial Bank of the Year award from Nairametrics, the SME Bank of the Year award from NewsDirect, the Straight-Through Processing Excellence Award from Citi, and recognition from Global Brands Magazine for Excellence in Community Empowerment. The 2026 promotion exercise therefore adds another dimension to the Bank’s broader strategy of building employee capability, recognising performance and strengthening its talent pipeline.
