Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have apprehended three individuals in the Shasha area of Akowonjo, Lagos, for orchestrating a street carnival that blatantly disregarded existing laws governing the use of speakers in public spaces in Lagos State.

The arrested suspects—Julius Osimirin, aged 43, Isiaka Kabiru, aged 16, and Ajewole Ajugba, aged 42—were taken into custody around 12:23 p.m. on Abatti Street, Shasha, where they were in the process of setting up their carnival stage.

The arrest follows directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, to the Commander of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to take action against individuals attempting to violate these regulations.

CP Fayoade previously engaged with the carnival organizers, advising them to secure a hall for their event and refrain from obstructing streets or causing disturbances to public peace.

The suspects are expected to face legal proceedings upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, anipr, mipra, serving as the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command in Ikeja, disclosed this development on January 6, 2024.

This incident underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies in upholding regulations aimed at maintaining public order and tranquility in Lagos State.
